Evidence of this massive censorship exists in a variety of Muslim Hadith including al-Suynti: "...During the time of the prophet, the chapter of the Parties now identified as chapter 33 in the present day Koran -- The Clans, used to be two hundred verses (long) ...When Uthman edited the Koran, only the current verses (73 of them) were recorded." (Hadith Suyuti: Itqan, Part 3, Page 72.) Note: in correct chronological order chapter 33 was actually the 103rd chapter out of 114 total chapters in the Koran. Chapter 33 is a Medina chapter and was written after the death of Khadija the Pure.
Muslim tradition says Caliph Uthman not only burned all competing versions of the Koran but he also erased an astonishing 127 verses from chapter 33 of the Koran version he promoted as the official one which all Muslims must use (under penalty of death)! Similar changes occurred in other parts of the Koran which spawned fierce opposition, headed by Ibn Massoud. Ibn Massoud was very old by the time Uthman became caliph of all Muslims. Massoud was one of the few Sahaba still living and in his youth he memorized the earliest version of the oral tradition Koran and wrote it down, using the primitive form of Arabic writing that existed in the early 7th century AD. He is also credited by Muslim tradition as the first believer to publically recite the Koran in the pagan city of Mecca. This irreplacable book was one of the extremely rare written Korans which Uthman destroyed in the Great Muslim Koran Burning.
Muslim tradition recounted in Hadith page 15 of Kitab al-Masahif by Abu Dawood says Ibn Massoud
vehemently objected, saying: "must I now forsake what I acquired directly from the (real?) messenger of Allah?" Massoud received a brutal beating for his bold actions. A prominant 20 century Muslim author named Taha Hussein (a former minister of education for Egypt who also received the United Nations Peace Prize for his efforts in Human Rights) says Ibn Massoud died shortly the beating. (Taha Hussein, A-Fitnato Al-Kobra [The Great Sedition] 1947, pp.160-161, 181-182)
Immediate outrage followed Caliph Uthman's tyranical actions. Civil war erupted and one of the first casualties was Caliph Uthman. His opponents murdered the corrupt ruler of all Muslims and carried his bloody corpse to the garbage dump in the city of Medina! Unfortunately the civil war did not stop the mutation of the Muslim religion because the competing versions of the Koran were already burned. Eventually the reformers failed and a dynasty of tyrants (all of whom were allies of caliph Uthman) and were even more corrupt and brutal (than Caliph Uthman) hijacked the Islamic empire by murdering the surviving male descendants of prophet Mohammed and Khadija the Pure.

This tarnished history is one of the reasons many contemporary scholars of Islamic history believe the entire Koran to be a 9th century forgery! In effect, these academics say Mohammed of the Koran never really existed and all of the traditions and Koran verses about him are manufactured propaganda -- intended to give the corrupt rule of later Arab tyrants a noble past sanctioned by a ferocious desert god named Allah!
The author disagrees with this viewpoint and rather believes a specific group of evil men censored and scrambled the official rewritten Koran into the confused and contradictory mess we have today. Whatever the flawed logic behind this absurd action, it certainly made the entire book incomprehensible. It was easy for Mohammed to become the despotic ruler of the 1000 year old conquered Hebrew city of Yathrib because Yathrib was a squabbling and divided Hebrew citadel which Mohammed's followers occupied, plundered, and renamed Medina; after first beguiling the foolish occupants of that ancient city with a peace treaty (The Constitution of Medina). Mohammed was supposed to administer this treaty and bring harmony and prosperity to the Jews of Yathrib but he eventually expelled, enslaved or beheaded all the Jews who would not convert to Islam.
